ALABAMA SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Showcase for memorabilia of Alabama sports figures. Located at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. Brochures are available at the Guest Services desk.

BARBER MOTORSPORTS SPEEDWAY

Barber’s collection of over 1200 motorcycles and cars is the largest collection in the U.S. The facility also has a world-class 2.3-mile road course.

BIRMINGHAM BOTANICAL GARDENS

Located on a 67.5-acre site on the lower slope of Red Mountain. There are 22 gardens of differing character: the Japanese Garden, the Southern Living Garden, and the Formal Rose Garden, just to name a few. Located at 2612 Lane Park Road. Open daily from sunrise to sunset.


BIRMINGHAM CIVIL RIGHTS INSTITUTE

Situated in the Civil Rights District, this state-of-the-art facility houses exhibits that depict historical events from post World War I racial separation to present-day racial progress. Located at 520 26th Street North

BIRMINGHAM MUSEUM OF ART

The largest municipal museum in the southeast, with an outstanding collection of over 17,000 works of art from many diverse cultures. Located only one block south of the hotel at 2000 8th Avenue North. Call for hours of operation and special exhibits.

BIRMINGHAM ZOO

One of the largest zoos in the southeast, occupying 100 shady acres in the southeast section of the city. The zoo houses nearly 1,000 mammals, birds and reptiles. Among the favorite attractions are Monkey Island and the House of Big Cats. Located at 2630 Cahaba Road. Open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 


FIVE POINTS SOUTH

A renovated historic district, alive with restaurants, bars and shops. Located on the south side of downtown Birmingham.

 

MCWANE SCIENCE CENTER

A science and technology learning center featuring a 290-seat dome Omnimax Theater. A unique $40 million science adventure featuring 15,000 square feet of interactive science exhibits and the new Challenger Learning Center, a simulative space flight experience. Located in the heart of downtown at 200 19th Street North.

MERCEDES-BENZ VISITORS CENTER

The first-ever American manufacturing plant for the Mercedes-Benz ML 320 SUV .

This visitor center documents the history of the Daimler-Benz Automotive Company, along with architectural showcases and antique car displays. Special plant tours are available. Located just 75 minutes west of Birmingham off I-59, exit 89. Call for details.

Sloss gives visitors a chance to see Birmingham’s industrial beginnings, as well as sculptures by resident artists. There are also many special events throughout the year and guided tours are available.

VULCAN PARK AND MUSEUM

Located atop Red Mountain on the south side of Downtown Birmingham, Vulcan Park is home to the world’s largest cast iron statue and features spectacular panoramic views of Birmingham. Vulcan Park tells the story of Birmingham’s past, present and promise for the future. Visitors will find interactive exhibits and displays that give insight into the region’s history and industrial growth.

ALABAMA ADVENTURE AMUSEMENT PARK

Nestled on 300 acres of rolling terrain just 20 minutes outside of Birmingham. A combination amusement and water theme park featuring 20 thrill rides, highlighted by an all-wooden roller coaster and water slides, tubing and other fun! Located off I-20/59 in Bessemer.
